Jagiellonian University Medical College
The Jagiellonian University Medical College is the medical faculty of Poland’s oldest university, which was founded in 1364 by King Casimir III the Great. One of the three faculties established at that time was the Faculty of Medicine, marking the beginning of Polish medicine in Kraków. Over the centuries, it has continuously progressed. Currently, JUMC comprises three faculties: Medicine, Pharmacy, and Health Sciences, with a student population of 5600 from Poland and around the world.
The university is part of several international networks, including the COIMBRA Group, European University Association, The Guild, Una Europa, AUCSO, Baltic University Programme, EUNIS, EUROPAEUM, SAR, Unitown, and UTRECHT Network.
It holds accreditation from the Malaysian Medical Council, Medical Board of California Accreditation (MBC), National Committee on Foreign Medical Education Accreditation (NCFMEA), Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG), and Eaquals for JUMC Language Centre.
Through bilateral agreements and the Erasmus+ program, JUMC collaborates with universities worldwide, welcoming students for internships and studies. The university also engages in cooperation projects focused on innovation and sharing best practices.

School of Medicine in English
SME is a part of the JUMC Faculty of Medicine. We offer curricula to students from around the world, with programs compliant with Polish, European Union, and North American standards. Graduates of these programs receive an internationally recognized MD degree.
Our students can complete a clinical rotation in approved teaching hospitals, and our graduates can pursue postgraduate training and apply for licensure in Canada, the US, and European countries. SME is accredited by the Polish Commission of Accreditation, recognized by the U.S. Department of Education, and granted recognition by the Division of Licensing of the Medical Board of California for our English-language programs.

Medicine
Medicine, program in English is the long-cycle program lasting 12 semesters. First two years of the program focus on the basic sciences and from the first year of study, students are familiarized with ethics in medicine and communication with the patient. Basic clinical sciences are taught from the third to the sixth year of the program.
A number of elective courses is held in the course of studies. In order to pass a year, summer clerkship completion is required.
Upon completion of the studies graduates receive a diploma, and are awarded a title of lekarz.
Dentistry
Dentistry, program in English is the long-cycle program lasting 10 semesters. First two years of the program focus on the basic sciences and from the first year of study, students are familiarized with bioethics and communication with patients. Pre-clinical classes, preparing students for work with patients, are offered fom the second year of study. Basic clinical sciences are taught from the third to the fifth year of the program
A number of elective courses is held throughout the program, including ones in clinical disciplines broadening the knowledge in courses in the major areas of study. In order to pass a year, summer clerkship completion is required.
Upon completion of the studies graduates receive a diploma, and are awarded a title of lekarz dentysta.
Second-cycle program, full-time
Drug Discovery and Development
Drug Discovery and Development (DDD) is a programme focused on all aspects of identifying and introducing new medicines. Its mission is to deliver high-level specialists, equipped with a highly applied scientific basis for discovery and development of novel pharmacotherapeutics, combined with focused, real-life practical skills. This degree provides a solid grounding in pharmaceutical sciences, together with an opportunity to specialize in a particular drug discovery and development area.
The first semester is devoted to provide a basic understanding of drug discovery and development as well as key chemical, biological and pathophysiological aspects, relevant to drug research. The second semester provides a wide and well-balanced training in pharmaceutical sciences, which
serves as a basis for further, specialized skills development. The third and fourth semesters are focused on one of the three leading areas: Medicinal Chemistry, Experimental Pharmacology, Model Based Drug Development.
Graduates of DDD will learn how new medicines are sought, identified, developed, manufactured and tested, along with the most important aspects of regulatory processes, necessary for their formal approval as drug products. Additionally, they will be equipped with management skills and language expertise, supporting their future employment in the worldwide pharma-biotech industry, regulatory agencies or drug research centers.
Doctoral School of Medical and Health Sciences
Education at the Doctoral School lasts 8 semesters (4 years) and ends with the submission of a PhD dissertation and prepares for obtaining a doctoral degree in the field of: medical sciences and health sciences, in the disciplines of: medical sciences, pharmacology and pharmacy, health sciences. Education at the Doctoral School is based on the Doctoral School Programme and the Individual Research Plan (IPB), submitted within 12 months from the date of commencement of education.
The Doctoral School Programme consists of three blocks: obligatory education, specialized education in the field of research methodology and supple-mentary education in the field of vocational education and soft skills. During the studies, three educational paths are followed, depending on the disciplines of the PhD dissertation being prepared.
In the Doctoral School Programme, PhD student can choose numerous optional courses. To complete the education at the Doctoral School, it is required to complete 60 hours of professional traineeship and a research internship of at least two weeks conducted at a foreign center. The doctoral program is conducted in Polish and/or English.
